Bellevue Fire Department runs an Explorer Post which provides the opportunity for young adults (14 –
20 years of age) to become familiar with career opportunities available in the fire service.
Through a combination
of classroom instruction, hands-on training, and volunteer work, Explorers are provided a base of knowledge and experience
that will benefit them not only in fire service careers, but also in all future endeavors.
The program is designed
to encourage teamwork, cooperation, responsibility, effective communication, the development of leadership skills and to provide
knowledge of fire protection and safety.
After the explorer has completed their 1-year probation of training they will have the privilege
to work with a bellevue fire crew. While participating in medical calls, car accidents, building fires, car fires, house chores,
and many more.
Explorer Post 311 meets on Mondays at the Bellevue Fire Training Center. Post 311 participates in various
events in the City of Bellevue throughout the year.
Interested applicants must pass a brief physical agility test to
insure they can safely participate in the program. All applicants must then participate in an interview before being accepted
into the Post. All uniforms and safety equipment are provided to each Explorer by the Bellevue Fire Department. There are
no annual dues.
